Janice Brabaw wrote her first story at age four - a series of drawings on a cardboard box captioned by her father.   From an early age, Janice turned to writing to both escape a lonely childhood and to create her own universe. She completed her first book - three notebooks full of New Kids on the Block fanfiction - at age ten. She later would spend her teenage years drafting a trilogy of vampire novels called Dark Secrets. As a junior and senior in high school she was selected to participate in the St. Lawrence University Writer's Conference in Saranac Lake and would later attend SLU as a Writing Major. While in college, Janice flirted with poetry and fiction writing, but eventually concentrated in screenwriting and film. Her senior year, she was one of twelve English students accepted into the Honors Program at St. Lawrence. She later completed a full-length feature screenplay as her thesis called The Space Between. During her time at St. Lawrence, she was also tapped to join the Irving Bacheller English Honorary Society as one of the youngest inductees in its history.

In 2003, Janice began penning her memoir, And Again: A Life Disordered, which dealt with her history of depression and borderline personality disorder.   For the next five years, Janice worked on the manuscript here and but it wasn't until 2008 that the memoir was finished.  "The tricky thing about writing a book about your life is that life continues!  The ending keeps changing and with it your perspective," Janice later said of her time spent writing And Again.

After several months of querying agents (and a refrigerator covered in rejection letters), Janice decided to take matters into her own hands and self-published her poetry collection Universe, Disturbed through her company Tangled Up In Blue Productions.
Originally Universe, Disturbed was published for two reasons - for Janice to expand her writing credits to get an agent for her memoir and to make some quick money during unemployment.   When the collection proved to be a success, Janice found herself doing something she hadn't done on a regular basis since college -- writing.    In the six months since the book's release, Janice has written over one hundred new poems.

She also decided that it's way more fun to be your own agent.   And Again is set to be published from Tangled Up In Blue in 2010..
